Now I have a question concerning extending a table. In our database we have a General table which contains some general information and also a version number. This version number is used for checking if the used database is up to date or an upgrade is required (during the last 4 years we extended several times the database). Now we would like to add a column to this General table but with this extension I get an exception if the software tries to read the General table from a database which does not yet include this additional column. I think the problem is NDO tries to fill the complete General object but for old databases the new column does not exists and is therefore incompatible. My question is, is it with NDO possible to get only the version number from old databases? With this version number we can check if an upgrade is required.
